The owner
50% of every feepaid to whoever owns the octopus, straight into the wallet that holds it. eight arms means eight streams into one pocket.

40% of every feebought back as $OCTO and sent to the bottom of the trench. every grip on every wallet makes the supply a little smaller.
The reef
10% of every feepooled for the week and paid on sunday to octopuses with all eight arms gripping, by how much they collected. whatever is left is burned.

six rules keep eight arms honest. they are enforced by the program, not by anyone's mood.
Three arms per wallet, max
a single wallet can carry arms from up to three different octopuses, so nobody pays more than 3% on a buy. one octopus can never put two arms on the same wallet.
Cold wallets slip off
if a gripped wallet buys nothing for seven days, the arm lets go on its own and comes back to the owner free. no dead arms, no paying rent on a ghost.
Move arms any time
release an arm whenever you spot a better wallet. it can grip again after one hour and it costs nothing, because you already paid for the arm.
Shaking off costs double
the gripped wallet can pay twice what that one arm took to shake it off. every cent is burned, and the arm returns to its owner a day later, still hungry.
Full grip gets the reef
only octopuses with all eight arms on active wallets share the weekly reef pool. seven arms is a hobby, eight arms is a job.
The octopus travels
send the octopus to another wallet and all its arms go with it, grips intact. the new owner starts collecting from the very next buy.
